Welcome Back! Republican Women of the Brazos Valley kicks off our fall meeting schedule with Representative John Raney, Texas House District 14
September is here, which means in addition to the start of school, football, and fall, RWBV is also starting back up and getting ready for an important election cycle!
What better way to get in the "right" mindset as we prepare for November than with our very own Texas House District 14 Representative John Raney!
Representative Raney has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2012, where he servces on the Committees for Higher Education, Appropriations, and House Administration. While still a student at Texas A&M University, he founded the Texas Aggieland Bookstore - a business he still runs today.
When he manages to find time between his job at the bookstore and in the Texas House, John and Elizabeth are active in many community organizations and enjoy attending Aggie athletic events. They attend First United Methodist church in Bryan and are the proud parents of two daughters, who have blessed them with two sons-in-law and six grandchildren.
Did you know??? Representative Raney first became involved in politics right here in Brazos County, where he served as chair of the Brazos County Republican Party. It was while serving in this position that he met his wife, Elizabeth, at the Texas Republican Party Convention in 1972.
Representative Raney will give us a great walk back in time with an account of the early beginnings of the Republican Party in Brazos County. It is sure to be fun and enlightening!
